Dog Grooming Service Agreement

A big tail-wagging welcome to Woofers! We’re paws-itively thrilled to have you and your furry friend join our pack. Your pup’s safety and comfort are our top priorities while they’re in our care. We ask all clients to read and sign our grooming contract to keep things as smooth as a freshly groomed coat. This helps us be as transparent as a squeaky-clean doggo and ensures you have all the important info about our grooming process.

Now, let’s get ready for some paw-some pampering!

Aggressive Behaviour

Please inform us if your dog is aggressive towards people. A muzzle may be used if necessary.

Fleas and Ticks

If fleas or ticks are found on your dog during grooming, treatment is mandatory, and an additional fee will apply. This prevents the infestation from spreading in the salon. Flea infestations can lead to tapeworms and other health issues. We strongly recommend keeping your dog on a monthly flea treatment.

Aggressive or Difficult Dogs

Owners must inform the groomer if their dog has a history of biting, showing aggression, or reacting negatively to grooming. If necessary, a muzzle will be used for the safety of both the dog and the groomer. Muzzles do not harm the dog but serve as a protective measure. A handling fee may apply for aggressive or difficult dogs. Woofers reserves the right to refuse or stop service at any time if a dog becomes too difficult to groom safely.

Matted Coats / Mat Removal Risk

Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, we will not spend more than 15 minutes de-matting. If your dog's coat is severely matted, it may need to be clipped short for their comfort. Matted fur can be painful and difficult to remove, leading to irritation and possible injuries. An extra charge will apply for de-matting due to the additional time and wear on our equipment. Matted coats require extra care, and a de-matting fee will apply. Mats grow tighter over time and can cause skin damage.

Removing severe mats may require shaving, which carries risks such as cuts, skin irritation, and exposure to bacteria. After grooming, dogs may experience itchiness, redness, or behaviour changes. Shaved dogs are also at risk of sunburn and should be protected with sunscreen. Regular grooming appointments help prevent matting.

Health and Medical Issues / Senior Dogs

Grooming can sometimes be stressful, particularly for senior dogs or those with underlying health conditions. It may also expose hidden medical issues. To minimise stress, we will prioritise cleanliness and comfort over aesthetics for such dogs. This contract permits Woofers to seek immediate veterinary care if deemed necessary. We will attempt to contact you first, and any vet expenses incurred will be the owner's responsibility.

Anal Glands and Ear Plucking

We do not express anal glands, as this should be done by a vet. Ear plucking is only performed upon request.

Dissatisfaction with Grooming

If your pup’s new ‘do isn’t making tails wag, let us know within 48 hours! We’ll do our best to fix any issues and make sure your furry friend looks fur-bulous!

Accidents

While we take every precaution, grooming involves sharp tools, and minor injuries such as cuts, nicks, and nail quickening can occur. We will always ensure your dog is groomed as safely as possible.

Respect and Kindness

Grooming requires patience and skill. We strive to provide a positive experience for every dog and appreciate kindness and respect in return. If our personalities do not align, we reserve the right to refer you to another grooming service.
